Once a First Southern Baptist church and its associated classrooms for elementary kids, the buildings were built in the 70’s with tilt-up exposed aggregate concrete panels. As a part of our design intervention, we repurposed the buildings to higher education formal and informal learning spaces. We uncovered the beauty in the craftsmanship of the trusses and stained glass windows that were integrated throughout the building. The new building materials and reimagined interior finishes purposefully juxtaposed against the existing ones, highlight the sharp contrast and the harmonious coexistence of the old and the new.
